So, Satoshi Kon died today....
he directed Paprika and Tokyo Godfathers as well as Perfect Blue. All three of these are amazing movies but he also made my favorite film of all time, Millenium Actress. He was the last glimmer of hope in the animation market, especially eastern animation. Miyazaki is really good at what he does, but his stories are bogged down by childish plots and loose constructs. Kon was the adult version and it’s gonna suck not seeing anymore work from him.

CRAZY HURRICANE
just got back from california, those trips are always too short. going back to school on sunday which im really excited for, although some reasons exist that are making me terrified about returning to fredericksburg. hopefully everything will be okay but im just so anxious right now. the work of art finale blew my face off (spoilers ahead). i was in such awe with all three shows, it would have been amazing to see any of them in person. it made me feel this weird sense of pride that i had been with them (miles, abdi, and peregrine) the whole season and to see such amazing work from all three. i totally agreed with the judges, miles show was great but too ‘miles’-y. it felt like a big challenge rather than a finale for him and the end product didnt measure up to peregrine’s or abdi’s. i enjoyed abdi’s show alot but i really wish peregrine would have won, i just loved her and her show so much but i have a slight bias cause she reminds me so much of my favorite art teacher, monica stroik. still her work was amazing and it was a really close call.

in other news, my monster ball tickets came today. so pumped xD
the one thing i cant stand about lady gaga
is that she’s bffs with perez hilton. he’s an obnoxious little shit and a total embarassment for americans. i have no idea why she lets him associate himself with her…
